This phenomenon has made admission to one’s choices of institution relatively highly competitive.

Today in this article, I’ll be focusing on how to effectively study for UTME exam to achieve an extraordinary result which every JAMBITE desire.

HOW TO EFFECTIVELY STUDY FOR UTME EXAM

#1. KNOW YOUR SUBJECT COMBINATIONS:

The first things you must know before you even think of buying any textbook or past question for your UTME exam is for you to know all your required subject combinations.

Knowing this will surely guide you as to what and what are the material, textbook or past question you will have to buy.

After you have known this, then you can move on to the next step which is…

#2. HAVE THE SYALLABUS

This is very crucial and important if you really want to score high in your Utme exam

The JAMB syllabus consists of all the topics that are likely to come out if the exams.
So if you are able to lay hold on this, then the journey to exam success is nigh.

#3. GET GOOD TEXT BOOKS

Most UTME candidates always get this wrong. They go for text books which are irrelevant to the exam.
Some go as far as getting A’Level textbooks.

You do not need to use A level textbook for UTME exam at all.
All you need to focus on is the O level textbook because 90% of what you will be asked will be from O level

So getting good textbook requires getting useful books for the examination, not the irrelevant ones. And mind you, during this period of examination,

There are recommended books to study for The exercise, so a good student who’s determined to get good grades, has to get those books and make effective use of them. This is the third step on how to effectively study for UTME exam

#4. HAVE A WORKING TIME TABLE

A serious minded student who is preparing for this particular examination must have an active working reading time table, this improves discipline and management of time. it’smm is very important to read well and as well be time conscious because the examination has a specific time duration for students to finish up.

Note that creating a time table is not just enough but following it up duly,so when a time table is created,it has to be followed strictly accordingly so as to be well efficient in timing and in time management.

#5. UTILIZE THE INTERNET

Just like the saying, if you’re not informed, you’d be deformed. Making the proper use of the internet is very important to a student preparing for utme, because otfen times, informations about the examination can be seen on the internet.

Even, sometimes, example questions would be released for candidates to practice with, but if you aren’t putting your internet to the best use, You will surely miss it.

#6. HAVE A SPECIFIED READING TIME


This is also very important as a student who is aiming a good grade. Having a specified reading time simply means creating your own special time to read. Don’t be influenced by others, what works for Mr A might not work for Mr B. So therefore, look for an appropriate time for yourself, it could be very early in the morning, it could be during the day and it could also be at night. so whichever works for you should be better.

#7. AVOID DISTRACTIONS

This is extremely important for any student who want to study effectively for the UTME exam to have removed all forms of distraction, to stay focused and do away with the likes of too much television, unnecessary discussion, Facebook, Instagram and so on so as to stay focused and be prepared for the exam, most expecially when your exam day is very close. There will always be time to go back and do them.

Don’t waste your time on an irrelevant things out of which has been aforementioned above, stop visiting your friends unnecessarily and avoid playing frivolously around. Mingle only with friends that add value to your life, friends you gain from and a friend who is also serious when it’s comes to academics.

#8. DON’T OVERWORK YOUR BRAIN

There’s always a saying that says all work and no play makes Jack a dull boy. Take a short break if possible, you relax yourself, relax your brain, don’t over stress yourself and most importantly don’t over stress your brain so you won’t get frustrated.

When you notice you’re reading for a long time and you realize you’re not getting it just take a nap or better still you engage yourself in what you love most… Don’t follow others who read for a long period of time. If you notice anything funny just take a break, you can take a walk or you reply your WhatsApp messages just for a short while and mind you, don’t get carrie away with that and forget the purpose of the break.

#9. SOLVE PAST QUESTIONS:

This is one of the key elements on how to successfully study for the UTME exam.

You must be aware that JAMB repeats past questions every year and so therefore; the need to practice past question becomes highly recommended for the exam.

The reasons for this should not be over-emphasised upon. And this will surely help in your ambition to score high in the exam.
NOTE: JAMB will not repeat past question word for word. Technically and options may differ, so be wise and calm when you eventually see some questions you have treated before in on your exam day.

#10. ASK RELEVANT QUESTIONS

It is very important to be inquisitive, Always at every point in time be eager to know more about a subject or any useful information. A student who ask question is obviously set for a good success.

It always very helpful to ask questions when one is not clear with something because it is an avenue to learn new things and acquire new methods to solving such problem.

#11. AIM AT A VERY HIGH SCORE

Like in said in one of my article, Always have the 300+ mindset. This will affect even how you will prepare for the exam.

Don’t have the idea of putting yourself within the limit of 200-220

Always Aim for the moon so when you fall, you will fall amidst the stars. Aiming at a particular score will help to work harder and be more focused and determined. So aim very high, so you can shoot high.

#12. AVOID CRAMMING, BUT MEMORIZE

Most time some students confuses cramming with memorizing,
You don’t have to understand everthing, there are some you just have to memorize. But avoid cramming in whatever form, because whatever you cram; you will surely forget it in no time.

#13. REGULAR PRACTICE

Practicing helps alot for students who are preparing for the UTME exam. You should at least practice once every day, solve enough past questions and get familiar with how JAMB set their questions. This can only be achieved by daily practice.

#14. BE DETERMINED

Determination is an important element in determining the level of performance of any JAMB candidate.

This is also one of the ABC’s of success, which is just a must-have if you truely want to score high in your UTME exams.

Because of a truth, reading is not easy, but determination to succeed keeps you going and pushing even when you want to relent on your effort.

#15. DO NOT LEAVE A TOPIC UNTOUCHED

Never make the mistake of going to any examination hall without finishing your material(jamb syllabus)

Questions may come out of any where from the syllabus. So before you think of saying you are prepared for the UTME exam, ensure that you have finished up all your syllabus to avoid stories that touch.
Most importantly: Cover all the hard topics

#16. TUTORIAL IS NOT A MUST

Just like I said in one of my articles. Going to tutorial could not have helped me when I sat for my UTME exam

You just have to know how best you assimilated when you read. Going for tutorial may work for you, but if that is the not case, Read on your own and don’t waste your money on tutorials to waste your time.

#17. ATTEND CBT CLASS

DON’T confuse this to tutorial class, CBT CLASS is only to get you familiar with the system which you can even do on your own if and only if you have your PC

Now; this is where most students miss it. It very essential for a student who has determined to get good result, to attend a CBT training in order to be able to deal with any problem that arises during the examination. As the examination itself is computer based, Although, you basically do not need to be a computer guru to write the exam.

All you need is just to be able to drag and click. Most students that have low grades simply because they are conversant with their computer. But you can avoid this by simply practicing CBT questions with your PC or you go for a CBT trainning.

In conclution:

The UTME exam is very simple, all it require from you is hard work, determination, and resilience. AVOID CRAMMING but memorize and while you are in the examination hall do not panic and make sure you put God first. And trust me: Success will be yours!
